I'm Daniel McMillan. I am an artist, and now also a writer, who is now living in Brandon, MB after moving recently.
I am relatively new to painting (7 years), but after I started, I know of no way to stop! And now that I am also writing (see my publishing and writing site HERE), my wife has taken to calling herself a "creativity widow"!
My painting subject matter varies greatly, and I tend to paint whatever strikes me, so I have painted people, scenes, space, animals, and whatever else makes me want to paint.
I have also accepted commissions from clients and painted based on their ideas in conjunction with my consultation for some mutually satisfying work.
A highlight of my artistic endeavours is that a painting I did of hockey player Brett Howden (of the Moose Jaw Warriors) sold at auction during the Hall of Fame opening in Moose Jaw for $2100! Brett and I were really stoked over this and we presented the cheque from the sale to Moose Jaw Special Olympics on March 19th at the YARA Awards in Moose Jaw, Saskachewan. You can read all of the details on the Moose Jaw Warriors website (CLICK HERE). You can see the painting on the Warriors' site, or here in my Gallery (in the Portraits section). Laurie Collicott at Images and Frames graciously donated her incredible professional framing to add the finishing touches to the piece. Please visit her website from the Links page. Also, I'd like to thank James Gallo of the Warriors for coordinating this and contributing to the success of this project!
